Rain Garden

A rain garden will retain storm water on your property and then slowly release it to help prevent flooding. Dig a low area in your garden for the water to drain to, fill it with gravel and filter fabric, and plant water tolerant species. It should be no less than 500 sq.ft. to handle a typical storm event.
