Mustard Greens
Plant mustard greens from August through the winter into March. They will be mature in 45 – 80 days. Mustard greens are a fantastic source of metal nutrients and are very important to vegetarian diets. These greens have also been shown to be effective when used for phytoremediation. This process is used to help remove heavy metals from the soils of hazardous waste sites. In New Orleans, this trait can be utilized to remove lead from the soil due to the lead based paint on many houses. DO NOT EAT OR COMPOST these plants if you are using them for phytoremediation. Where gloves and dispose of properly.
