What Happens Once I Sign Up?
Once you complete a Purchase Agreement you will be contacted by NORA’s landscape designer. The landscape designer will schedule a time to meet with you for one hour on your lot to review the list of credits, take rough area measurements, and help outline your priorities. You will find a list of landscape materials for which you can receive credit attached here. The numbers are based on market rate costs that include labor, so if you are thrifty and resourceful with using volunteer labor, you may end up with extra money in your pocket! Some goals for your consideration include:
- create shade
- reduce watering
- reduce storm water runs off
- reduce the use of pesticides
- build with sustainable and / or recycled materials
- promote exercise and healthy living through gardening
- use native plants
- minimize on-going maintenance costs
After the site visit you will receive a list of recommended landscape improvements based on your goals. You will need to check off which improvements you want to make and return this form to NORA. Your credits will be calculated based on the total improvements you plan to make. This agreement will be included in the Act of Sale. Once you have received the title on your property, you have nine months to complete your landscaping. Upon completion, NORA’s landscape designer will return to the property to verify that you have completed the work to which you agreed. Once NORA has verified that the work is complete, you will be credited the amount agreed upon at the Act of Sale.
