Mr. Fall’s Garden Entry
Mr. Falls is 81, but that does not slow him down when it comes to his passion for landscaping. He was born in the 7th Ward at 1913 North Robertson, and moved to New Orleans East about 14 years ago
when he married Cythnia. In the past he was a licensed landscaper, which was very useful when teaching volunteers how to install trees and plants correctly. Mr. Falls had a small amount of decorative pavers and wanted an entrance pathway into the garden. With some creative thinking, we came up with a low budget design to implement that same day. Using simple materials, a walkway welcomes visitors into the garden taking them to a seating area around a Maple tree. A change of gravel types adds color, pattern and texture. The rear of the lot has been given over to a variety of fruit trees planted in a grid pattern to create an orchard. Beside the orchard is his pre-existing vegetable garden. He hopes to build a gazebo in the near future to be able to sit back and relax in his garden.
